 Ensuring free, fair & peaceful elections

Security arrangements for the day of voting reviewed

 

For ensuring free, fair & peaceful elections, the Director, Panchayat & Municipal Elections, 2015 reviewed the security arrangements on the day of voting with Nodal Officer of Police Department. It has been decided to deploy adequate number of Police Personnel at each polling station and to deploy lady constables as well. A Police team shall accompany each Sector Officer who will patrol in their respective areas on the day. For this Sector Officers have already been conferred the power of Executive Magistrate. Striking reserve shall also be maintained with SPs, DIG & DGP and additional force shall be deployed in sensitive areas.

The list of contesting candidates for all Municipal, Zilla Parishad Members, Members Gram Panchayat, Members Panchayat Samiti & Gram Pradhans have been uploaded in the website db.and.nic.in/stateelection/ the Director of Municipal & Panchayat Elections, A & N Administration.

The work of printing of ballot papers is under progress amidst tight security arrangements in the presence of Returning Officers.

A few complaints have been received against Govt Servants for taking part in electoral activities of contesting candidates which is totally unacceptable & unwarranted and appropriate action shall be initiated against them. A confidential cell has been set up to keep vigil on such activities. All Govt Servants are again cautioned to completely restrain from such activities.  

          Advisory has been issued to the contesting candidates for setting up of office and use of vehicles during electioneering. The team leaders of MCC teams have been issued directions for ensuring proper barricading and picketing of their concerned areas by police.

It is once again directed to all the Bar licensee and ANIIDCO Ltd to submit the daily report of their sale of liquor in the prescribed format in the license section of the Deputy Commissioner’s office, South Andaman without fail. The teams constituted for enforcement of modal code of conduct are also directed to monitor and keep vigil on bars/liquor shops. Stringent penal action shall be taken against the violators.

          The teams constituted for preventing the violation of Modal Code of Conduct have been keeping constant vigil. The 109 (One Hundred Nine) number of defacements have been removed in North & Middle Andaman District & 462 (Four Hundred Sixty Two) as on 2nd September 2015 in South Andaman District. The general public and others are appealed to report any case of violation of Modal Code of Conduct to Election Cell on 03192-238881 and 03192-240127.

Applications invited from ST students for Civil Services coaching

As part of its initiative to give an impetus in the sphere of education, the Integrated Tribal Development Agency (ITDA), Car Nicobar is providing coaching to ST students for competing in Civil Service Examination at Mannidhanaeyam IAS, IPS Academy at Anna Nagar, Chennai. In this regard, applications have been invited for the year 2015-16 from graduate ST students for joining the course. The interested candidates will have to undergo a foundation course of fifteen days at Port Blair. The applicants who qualify the foundation course will be selected to join at Mannidhanaeyam IAS, IPS Academy at Chennai.

  Interested and willing ST Nicobarese candidates desirous to join the coaching classes have been requested to apply in plain paper intimating their names, present address and permanent address, address for communication, contact number along with the All India Secondary/Sr. Secondary School Certificate (Xth & XIIth Std.), Degree Certificate and Scheduled Tribe Certificate duly attested and should reach the Chairman, ITDP (Deputy Commissioner) Car Nicobar latest by Sept. 24, 2015 or send the scanned application with supporting documents by email to itdnicobar@gmail.com.

 

 

 

Hindi Fortnight Observance

 

          As part of Hindi Fortnight -2015, an essay writing competition was organised for Tamil, Bengali and Telugu medium schools of Port Blair area. The competition was organised for the students of class VI to VIII and for class IX and X. A large number of students participated in this competition.

          Meanwhile, a Hindi workshop will be organised for the Nodal Officers (OL) and Dealing Assistants (OL) working in various in Departments of A & N Admn. on Sept. 3, 2015 at 10 am in the Conference Hall of Secretariat. The Secretary (OL), A & N Admn., Shri Rakesh Bhatnagar will be the Chief Guest on the occasion.

 

 

 

Kumari Isher Mondal bags first position in

State Level Seminar

 

The Science Wing of Directorate of Education, Port Blair has organized a State Level Seminar for the students of class VIII to X in collaboration with BITM-Kolkata on the theme Harnessing Light; Possibilities & Challenges’ on 1st September-2015 in the conference Hall of Shiksha Sadan, Port Blair. About 08 Students selected from different Educational zones of these Islands participated in this seminar. Dr. Pramod Kumar, Associate Professor (Chemistry) from JNRM, Smt. Kamla Devi, Scientist-‘B’ from Zoological Survey of India and Shri Munna Prasad, PGT (Physics) from State Institute of Education, Shiksha Sadan witnessed the seminar as Jury Members.

Dr. B. M. Bhatt the Deputy Director Education (Science) and also the Nodal Officer for State Level BITM - Seminar inaugurated the function. Shri Raja Ram, Science Supervisor from the O/o the DDE (Science) coordinated the entire programme.

Kumari Isher Mondal studying in Class ‘X’ of Govt. Model SSS Mayabunder representing Mayabunder Educational zone has achieved 1st position and succeeded to participate in the National Level Seminar going to be held at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi on 8th October,2015. Whereas, Kumari Karandeep of Carmel SSS Port Blair, Kumari Shahina Shabnam of Crescent Public School, Wimberley Gunj and Kumari Ashmitha of Govt. Model SSS Port Blair secured 2nd, 3rd and 4th positions respectively. Prizes were also given to the four toppers. 

 

 

 

Accused of theft and molestation cases arrested by Police



On 31.08.15, after persistent and sincere efforts Police team of Police Station Mayabunder headed by Inspr. Abdul Sajid, SHO PS Mayabunder and Investigating Officer of theft and molestation cases HC R.K.Rathore under the supervision of Superintendent of Police, N&M Andaman District and Dy.SP Diglipur succeeded in nabbing one Suman Lall @ Chotu R/o Pokkadera, Mayabunder from Amkunj, Rangat.

   The police party has also recovered stolen articles from the possession of said accused. With this arrest, the police have also solved one case of molestation as well as a case of night burglary.
 The general public have been advised to report any incident of theft/burglary with the local police so that such criminals may be apprehended in time to stop the re-occurrence of such crimes. It is also mentioned that police has worked out most of the cases of theft/burglary registered at PS Mayabunder.

 

 

Traffic awareness created among the beneficiaries of PMEGP at SBI

 

          On 1/9/2015, a traffic awareness lecture was delivered by SI G. Suresh Kumar of Traffic Police to the beneficiaries who have been sanctioned loan by State Bank of India under the Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme for purchasing Auto Rickshaw and other purpose in a 6 days Entrepreneurship Development Training Programme organized by A&N Islands Khadi & Village Industries Board in collaboration with SBI Rural Self Employment Training Institute (SBI RSETI).

 Altogether 30-40 Auto drivers including other beneficiaries participated in the lecture.  They were briefed about the traffic rules & regulation were also familiarized with the signals, road signs, road markings etc.
