Hon’ble Governor of Uttar Pradesh

to arrive on July 4 on visit to Isles

 

 

 

         Shri Ram Naik, Hon’ble Governor of Uttar Pradesh is scheduled to arrive at Port Blair on 04.07.2015 on a two-day visit to the Islands.

 

         The itinerary of the Governor of UP during his stay in the Islands includes meeting with Hon’ble Lt. Governor, A&N Islands at Raj Niwas, laying of wreath at Martyrs’ Column followed by foundation laying ceremony for the installation of Veer Savarkar Plaque at the National Memorial Cellular Jail complex on 04.07.2015 at 11 am. The other programmes include attending function to be held in connection with the death anniversary of Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee at Saraswati Shishu Mandir Prothrapur, meeting with Uttar Pradesh Samaj Members and Members of Maharashtra Mandal.

 

         The Governor of UP is also scheduled to visit places of historical importance and tourist interest in and around the town.

 

         On completion of visit, the Governor of UP will leave for mainland on 06.07.2015.

Workshop on Cyber Crime held by A&N Police

 

         The A&N Police today (03/07/2015) organized a workshop on Cyber Crime at SP(D)SA Conference Hall, which was attended by Police Officers, Bank Officers, representatives of other departments and public to spread awareness and sensitize on Cyber Crime.

 

         The topics of Cyber Crime, Bank related Cyber Crime, Social media related Cyber Crime were discussed at large and interactive session on Cyber Crime was also held.

 

         On the eve, all service providers were also requested to spread awareness through SMS and Information Campaigns on Cyber Crime. This was done as a part of ‘Digital India’ Campaign.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Workshop on Cyber Crime held in N&M Andaman

 

         As a part of “Digital India Week”, a workshop on “Cyber Crime” was organized by A&N Police at the Information Centre, Mayabunder. The Deputy Commissioner, North & Middle Andaman was the Chief Guest on this occasion. Speaking on this occasion, Superintendent of Police (District), North & Middle Andaman focused on various types of Cyber Crime, its affect on society and preventive measures. Representatives from State Bank of India, NIC, Co-operative Bank also apprised the gathering about the facilities provided by them for general public to avoid commission of Cyber Crime by the mischievous elements. In the end, Up-Pradhan, Gram Panchayat, Rampur expressed his gratitude towards the Police Department for organizing such workshops for the benefit of general public. Representatives of Govt. Departments, PRI members and general public attended the workshop.

 

         Similar workshops were organized in other areas of North & Middle Andaman District to apprise public and other departments about the sensitivity of Cyber Crime and other related issues.  

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Awareness programme on ATM/E-Mail fraud

and Digital India Week

 

         A&N Police has been organizing number of awareness programmes involving general public including school children and women all over Andaman & Nicobar Islands.

 

         On 2nd & 3rd July, a series of awareness programmes were held in South Andaman District as a part of the Digital India Week  celebrations.

 

 

         The main objective of the camps was to create awareness among the school children and general public about  preventive measures to taken against cyber crimes.

 

         In Senior Secondary School, Havelock about 200 students and teachers attended these programmes. Shri B. Saigal, SDPO Havelock addressed the gathering and explained in details the provision of aforesaid law and ongoing ATM fraud etc. On this occasion, Smti. Anand Kumari, Principal, Senior Secondary School, Havelock also addressed the children and explained about the steps being taken by police for the safety and security of the people of these Islands and appealed the students to educate their parents so that they do not fall victim to these crimes.

 

         Another programme on the same subjects was held at Panchayat Bhawan, Havelock where more than 100 people including PRI members participated in the programme. On this occasion, apart from Dy.SP Havelock, Pradhan, Gram Panchayat, Govind Nagar and Smti. Abala Samaddar, Zilla Parishad Member also addressed the gathering. The speakers appealed to the PRI members and Social workers to conduct meetings in their respective wards/area to educate the public.

 

         Similar type of awareness programmes were also organised by Shri MA Naushad, SDPO/Bambooflat Sub-division, in the Govt. Schools at Bambooflat, Manglutan and Ograbraj. Police officers from Police Stations Bambooflat, Ograbraj and Humfrigunj gave lectures among students, teachers on cyber crimes. Further Fishermen Watch Group, Senior Citizen Committees and PRI members were sensitized on various types of cyber-crimes, chit fund scams and ATM frauds and they were cautioned to take utmost precautions and refrain from disclosing their ATM numbers on mobiles to anybody. It was emphasis that no bank or public financial institution ever asks these details from any customer/client over phone or internet.

 

         In South Andaman Sub-division, Shri Mohd. Aslam, SDPO South Andaman organised similar awareness programmes at various schools in Municipal areas as well as in the jurisdiction of PS Pahargaon through lectures by SHOs and women police officers. Awareness was also spread among the general public through announcements in the moving vehicle in the Sub-division, cautioning public not to disclose ATM/secret numbers on mobile to anybody.

 

         The general public including school children appreciated the positive steps taken by the A&N Police to sensitize the general public and school children.
