LG reviews water supply situation

 

          Port Blair, March 4: Hon’ble Lt Governor, Lt Gen AK Singh (Retd), today reviewed the water supply situation of the Islands. He directed APWD to undertake a thorough study of the water situation of different parts of the Islands and come up with a contingency plan for summer. APWD was asked to complete the study and submit a report in this regard within 10 days. The Chief Engineer (APWD) apprised the Lt Governor that except in few places there is no shortage of water. The water position at the Dhanikhari Dam is 60.06 RL. At the same time, the Lt Governor directed CE (APWD) to complete the Kamsarat Dam project before the onset of monsoon. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Council seals building for unauthorized construction

 

          Port Blair, March 4: The Port Blair Municipal Council has sealed a building/structure on Survey no. 2686/P situated at village Aberdeen, Ward no. 14 without obtaining any approval of building plan. The said building is being constructed illegally without obtaining any prior approval from the Council and is in gross violation of the Building Bye laws. Despite serving demolition notice, the building owner failed to comply with the directions of the PBMC and did not demolish the unauthorized building and continued the construction work unabated thus compelling the PBMC to seal the building.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Council issues demolition order

for unauthorized construction

 

 

          Port Blair, March 4: Taking a tough stand on unauthorized construction, the Port Blair Municipal Council has issued demolition notice to an ongoing construction of building on Plot bearing Survey No. 1453 & 1454 situated at Anarkali (Haddo Village) in gross violation to the Building plan, as well as in violation of Building By-laws read with section 168(d) of the A&N Islands (Municipal) Regulation 1999.

 

        The construction being illegal, the building under construction is in gross violation of the Building Bye-Laws and exceeds the permissible ground coverage, FAR and height.

 

        The Secretary, PBMC has further stated that similar action will be initiated in such unauthorized constructions as Port Blair being a Seismic-Zone V, such construction is a serious threat not only to the life and safety of the occupants but also to public safety. Builders have to follow the law in their own interest, failing which action will be taken as per the Municipal Building Bye laws, 1999.
