Hearings by A&N Commission for OBCs

 

        With the arrival of the Chairman, A & N Commission for OBCs at Port Blair on 4^th June 2012, the sittings of the commission began. A programme for hearing of the claims/representations of the people/Associations etc. has been drawn up for the period from 4^th to 22^nd June 2012 excluding holidays. So far the commission has heard the claims/representations including objections of the different groups of people namely i) Andaman Tamizar Sangam ii) Burma Indian Cooperative Settlers Society Ltd. iii) Ex servicemen Settlers Welfare Association and iv) All India Yadava Cultural Association in connection with the grant of OBC status to the respective communities. The Commission will continue to hear the claims of the remaining groups/Associations viz. i) Katchal Settlers, ii) Fisherman Association, iii) Anil Kumar & Others, iv) W.P.No.742 (Sivabalan & Others), v) Malyalee Settlers and vi) Sanjay Kumar & Others on daily basis until 22^nd June 2012. The Commission has also planned the field visits to the settlements/villages of certain communities in order to have an on the spot knowledge of the socio economic condition of such communities, who have applied for OBC status.
