Lt. Governor directs action against artificial films on all vehicles

 

 

        Lt Gen (Retd) Bhopinder Singh, PVSM, AVSM, Lt. Governor, Andaman and Nicobar Islands has directed the A & N Police to crack down all vehicles including government vehicles using artificial films by 15 May 2012. The Apex Court has prohibited the use of black films of any visual light transmission percentage of any material upon the safety glasses, front and rear wind screens and side glasses of all vehicles throughout the country. Only the manufacturer of the vehicle can manufacture the vehicles with tinted glasses which have Visual Light Transmission of specified percentages. No black film or any other material can be pasted on the wind screen or side glasses of the vehicles. Stringent action will be taken against offenders in this regard.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

International Nurses Day on May 12

 

        International Nurses Day will be observed in the islands together with the rest of the country on May 12, 2012. The theme of this year’s observance is ‘Closing the Gap: from Evidence to Action’. The Chairperson, Social Welfare Board, A&N Islands, Smt Ratna Kannan will be the chief guest on the occasion.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Jolly Buoy to remain closed for tourists from May 16

 

 

        It is for the information of General Public, Tour Operators, Tourists and others that the Jolly Buoy Island in Mahatma Gandhi Marine National Park (MGMNP) Wandoor shall remain closed for the tourism activities with effect from 16.05.2012 to 31.10.2012, consequent upon end of fair weather season as intimated vide Ministry of Shipping, M.M.D letter No.PB/2(216)/2008-III/564 dated 15/10/2009. However, the Red Skin Island in MGMNP shall remain open for the tourism activities during the above said period subject to weather conditions and other guidelines issued from time to time.
