Public hearings, sittings of OBC Commission

 

 

       It is for the information of the general public/interested parties/organizations that Hon’ble Mr. Justice Raghunath Ray (Rtd.), Chairperson of the A&N Commission for OBC will be visiting these islands from 4^th June, 2012 to 22^nd June, 2012 for holding public hearings and sittings of the Commission.

Sub: Rejoinder to the news appeared under the caption “10-day impasse leaves power consumers fuming” in The Echo of India on 11.5.2012.

 

       

               

        The Energy Billing Software (EBS) of our department works in stand alone mode. Therefore, data from each site office has to be manually collected, compiled and copied in a compact disc and handed over to Service center agency SCA for receiving payments through their collection centers, CSCs. The bill raising process for the previous month is completed by 1^st week of the current month and thereafter the process of data collection/compilation starts which takes up to three days.

 

        Therefore, collection from the CSCs starts from 10^th onwards. The collection is taken on Sundays also and the collection hours have been increased from 4½ hours to 10 hrs while compared to the old system.

 

        This practice is prevalent for last five months and consumers are also well aware that collection starts from 10^th onwards. The starting date of bill payments for the month of Jan 2012 to May 2012 is given below.

 

 

Further improvement will be done when connectivity is provided between all the site offices and with the implementation of new web-based software sharing common data base.
