New PAT Regulation to ensure peaceful coexistence

The new PAT Regulations approved by the President of India have been aimed to protect the aboriginal tribes in particular Jarawa tribe for their preservation and protection as per the existing policy. In the past unscrupulous elements had attempted to exploit them and this had brought a bad name to the islands which are otherwise a perfect example of unity in diversity and communal and regional harmony. At the same time the Regulations have been aimed to ensure peaceful day to day life of the villagers settled in the adjoining areas. Only those commercial activities which employ twenty employees or have an annual turnover of rupees one crore or more have been prohibited under the new PAT Regulation.  All plan schemes and projects as approved by the PRIs and gram panchayats will be continued for overall development without any interruption in the villages.

The people living in the adjoining areas are therefore advised not to get swayed away by mischief mongers who are trying to spread rumours and create fear in the minds of the community living in these areas.
