Hon’ble Lt Governor, Lt Gen AK Singh (Retd), interacting with Journalists from National newspapers/news agencies at the conference hall of Raj Niwas

on 15.10.2014. The Lt Governor briefed them about various aspects of life in the A&N Islands including tourism aspects.  

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

UT level seminar concludes

 

        In the line of ‘Make in India’ campaign launched by Hon’ble Prime Minister, Directorate of Industries, Andaman & Nicobar Administration in association with Directorate of Agriculture, Directorate of AHVS, ACCI, Directorate of Fisheries, Department of Environment & Forests, NABARD, State Bank of India, District Industries Centre, Directorate of Tourism, Directorate of Information Technology, ANIIDCO, ANIKVIB & ANCON organized a two-day Union Territory level Seminar on “Self Employment for sustainable livelihood and rural development” on 14th and 15th October 2014 at Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Institute of Technology Auditorium, Dollygunj. The seminar concluded on 15th October 2014 and the valedictory function was graced by Smt. Rashmi Krishnan, Secretary (Ind). Secretary (Ind) in her speech opined that this programme will help the youths of these Islands to build up there entrepreneurial qualities and help to accelerate economic activities in Andaman & Nicobar Islands. DGM, WEBCON also appreciated the efforts made by Administration for organizing a seminar involving the youths of these Islands. In the interactive session 05 different participants spoke and Shri. K.G. Hari from Nancowry expressed that after attending the programme he is planning to set up a coconut based industry at Katchal. Director of Agriculture and Director of Industries also spoke on the occasion and assured all type of cooperation from their respective Departments to the youths of these Islands. Shri Ajit Anand, Assistant Director (Tech) proposed the vote of thanks.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Cultural exchange programme

 

        The Department of Art & Culture, A&N Administration in collaboration with Avinash – Social and Cultural Society, Port Blair is organizing Cultural Exchange Programme on 18th October 2014 in the auditorium of Anthropological Survey of India, opposite Bengali Club from 5.30 p.m onwards. A fifty eight member cultural group from mainland will present folk & classical dances along with artists from these islands. The highlight of the day would be live musical programme by Avinash - Social and Cultural Society. This programme would provide an opportunity to the local artist to interact with the artists from mainland.
