LG inducts tourist boat -‘MV Mark Marina’ into operation

 

          Port Blair, April 16: An air-conditioned luxury tourist boat, ‘MV Mark Marina’ was inducted into operation at a simple function held at Junglighat Terminal here this morning. The Lt. Governor, Lt. Gen. A K Singh (Retd.) was the chief guest on the occasion. He unveiled a plaque and formally inducted the boat into service. The Lt. Governor and other dignitaries were taken on a short cruise on board the vessel within the vicinity of Junglighat Terminal.

 

          Jointly owned by Rajesh Anand and Mandeep Singh, the tourists’ boat was built at Tuticorin (Tamil Nadu) at the project cost of Rs.1.5 crores with the internal seating fixation done here itself. The 76-seated luxury vessel will cater to the need of tourists visiting Ross Island, North Bay and Viper Island. Additional chartered flights on

Chennai-Port Blair-Chennai sector

 

        Additional chartered flights on Chennai-Port Blair-Chennai sector will be operated by Air India on every Wednesday from 22nd April, 2015. This will be in addition to chartered flights already announced to be operated w.e.f. 18.04.2015 on alternate Saturdays. As per the current arrangement there will be total 06 chartered flights in a month operating on every Wednesday and alternate Saturdays (1st and 3rd Saturdays). The flight timings will be as below:

        In partial modification, the tickets for the chartered flights at Port Blair will henceforth be issued from the counter at Inter-island Helicopter Terminal, VIP Road, Port Blair, instead of STARS counter of DSS. Passengers intending to travel by the chartered flight from Port Blair to Chennai on flight scheduled on 22nd  April, 2015 and from Chennai to Port Blair in the next chartered flight scheduled on 29th April and 2nd May, 2015 are requested to submit their requisition in the prescribed format available on website www.and.nic.in and book their tickets at Inter-island Helicopter Terminal, Directorate of Civil Aviation, VIP Road, Port Blair between 9.00 AM to 4.00 PM from 17th April, 2015 onwards. Reservation of tickets for rest of the flights will start 10 days prior to departure of each flight.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Beach festival from April 24 to 26

 

        “Beach Festival – 2015” scheduled to be organized from 17th to 19th April, 2015 at Corbyn’s Cove is postponed due to administrative reason and now it will be held from 24th April to 26th April, 2015 at Corbyn’s Cove. The Beach Festival is organized every year for providing entertainment to the Islanders as well as to the visiting tourist.

 

        During the festival, Beach Sports competitions will be organized at Corbyn’s Cove to encourage more participation from general public and tourists. It is proposed to organize Beach Volley Ball for men and women, Tug of War for men, Coconut tree climbing for men and Musical chair for women and children and prizes will also be distributed to the winners.

 

        Interested participants may register their names for participation in Beach Sports competitions to Shri Abdul Khalid (09933245879), Volley Ball Coach (SSC) at Netaji Stadium, Port Blair on any day during working hours.
