First Lady interacts with widows of freedom fighters

 

          Port Blair, August 17: The First Lady of the Islands, Smt Suneeti Singh, along with Smt Rupa Ray, today visited the South Point Circuit House and interacted with the widows of deceased freedom fighters of Kolkata, who are in the Islands to participate in the Independence Day function held at the South Point Circuit House. The First Lady and Smt Rupa Ray also felicitated the freedom fighters and presented the cash award. Since most of the freedom fighters and their spouse hails from Bengal, the First Lady conveyed her best wishes in Bengali language ‘Bhallo Thako’.

 

        Interacting with them, the First Lady said that the nation will always remember the sacrifices made by the freedom fighters for the cause of the motherland. Today we are a Independent country because of their supreme sacrifice, she said.  Our great freedom fighters and patriots never cared about their family, their need, and their lives. To them freedom of their motherland was the only mission, she said.

 

        The First Lady further said that since she also hails from the defence back ground, she understands the pain and suffering of the heroes of the freedom movement and the importance of serving for the cause of motherland. The First Lady met with each one of the widow of the freedom fighters personally and greeted them. First Lady interacts with inmates of

Abbhyday complex at Ferrargunj

 

        Port Blair, August 17: The First Lady of the Islands, Smt Suneeti Singh, today visited the Abbhyday complex at Ferrargunj. The children of the home presented a welcome song on the occasion. She interacted with all the inmates of the home.

 

        While interacting with them, the First Lady was impressed with an old aged inmate, Shri Anto who is an extraordinary artist and admired all his exhibits. She also suggested that proper medical treatment be given to old aged persons and other inmates of the home. The First Lady also requested the Social Welfare Department to explore the possibilities of providing jobs to the adolescent inmates after completing their education. She appreciated the efforts of the Child Development Project Officer, Smt Irene Nicolas and all the officials who are associated with the running and maintenance of the home.
