Now Railway Recruitment Examination Centre at Port Blair

 

Port Blair, June 19: The Railway Recruitment Board, Ministry of Railways, GoI has agreed for setting up an Examination Centre at Port Blair for recruitment examinations being conducted by the Railway Recruitment Board. The Lt Governor, Lt Gen (Retd) Bhopinder Singh, PVSM, AVSM has taken up the matter for setting up the Examination Centre at Port Blair to facilitate all the aspiring candidates who are willing to appear in various Railway recruitment examinations being conducted from time to time. Setting up of an Examination centre at Port Blair for the Railway Recruitment Board will benefit the educated youth of these islands to appear in all the examinations conducted by Railway Recruitment Board without going to mainland to appear in such examinations.

 

 

 

 

 

 

School toppers felicitated

Port Blair, June 19: The Lt Governor, Lt Gen (Retd) Bhopinder Singh, PVSM, AVSM today felicitated the first five toppers of Class XII in the Science, Commerce, Arts and Vocational streams for the academic year 2012-2013. At a function organized under the aegis of Directorate of Education at Raj Niwas here today, the Lt. Governor gave away medals and certificates of merit to the Class XII toppers in the presence of the First Lady of the Islands, Smt Bhawanee Singh. He also presented Late Ajay Mathew Gold Medal to Kumar S. Ahmed Meeran, 1st topper of AISSCE (2012-13), who scored 96.60% marks. The Lt Governor on the occasion also released a book on imaginative and awareness creative poems by Kumar Prasanjit Das, a class Xth student of St. Mary’s School, Port Blair.  

 

        Speaking on the occasion, the Lt Governor congratulated all the meritorious students for their hard work and excellent result in academics and lauded the efforts of the teachers for the outstanding results achieved by the students. The excellent performance by these students will motivate and inspire other students to do well in their academic subjects, he stated. He further stated that many initiatives are being taken by the Education department to provide right ambience to the students by providing proper school infrastructure facilities in all the three Districts of the Islands. The Lt Governor advised the student to set goals by deciding in advance about their career options and then pursue hard to achieve their aims.

 

        Earlier, welcoming the chief guest and others, the Chief Secretary (i/c) and Principal Secretary (Education), Smt Rina Ray stated that the students of the islands have done well by scoring high percentage matching the toppers in mainland. She further stated that the Education department will organize separate coaching classes for senior students in order to support them for preparing UPSC examinations. The function concluded with the vote of thanks proposed by the Director of Education, Dr. R. N. Prasad.

Power suspension

 

        Power supply will remain suspended in some of the areas on 22.06.2013 from 0730 hours to 1300 hours for urgent maintenance work on T&D system and replacement of damaged cross arm at Garacharma near Maruti workshop.

 

        The areas to be affected by power disruption are Sipighat, Teylarabad, Bimlitan, Manjeri, Guptapara, Manglutan, Wandoor, Chouldari, Tusnabad, Port Mout, Tirur, Templemyo, Ograbraj, Mithakhari, Namunaghar, Dandus Point & Hathi Tapu.
