Short Film Making Workshop by Andaman Film Society

Film is a reflection of society, both present and past. Movies are in fact stories for the people who actually come out with ideas about something they want to say tell someone. Movies can educate too because they allow us to learn about places without going there, learn and imbibe cultures, traditions and practices without having to visit communities around the world. Our country produces over 600 films every year. Films are not only made in Bollywood but also elsewhere such as States, Film clubs, colleges, amateurs etc.

Andaman Film Society takes pleasure to announce that this Society is organizing a short film making workshop at Port Blair for the benefit of Islanders with support from the Directorate of Information and Publicity. The workshop is open to ages above 15 years. Students aspiring to do visual communication, cinematography, direction and acting, would benefit immensely from this workshop. Housewives, theatre artists, scientists, research scholars, amateur film makers, college goers and just anyone who wishes to tell a story can participate.

The 10 day workshop is designed to orient the students to the process of film making by offering both theoretical and practical inputs. The resource persons for the workshop are Faculty Film & Television Institute, Pune and Whistling Woods International, Mumbai. The workshop is being held from the 28th April to 7th May, 2014. The venue for the workshop would be the Conference Hall, Industries Department. Meanwhile, the Principals of the colleges, schools and other educational institutions have been requested to send in the participation of interested students for this workshop. As per information from Secretary, Andaman Film Society, there are 40 seats available for the workshop and participation fee for each person will be Rs.5000/-.
