Cultural evening on July 25

There are a number of registered cultural organizations in the islands who contribute immensely for the promotion of art and culture in their own way. In order to provide them an opportunity to showcase their talent, the Department of Art & Culture, A&N Administration has undertaken a new initiative to provide logistic support to registered socio–cultural organizations to present cultural programmes based on classical, semi classical and folk themes.

In this regard, the Department of Art & Culture, A&N Administration will organize a cultural evening in collaboration with Mukta Dhara, a cultural organization of the islands on Saturday, 25th July 2015 at 6 p.m at the auditorium of Anthropological Survey of India, Middle Point, Port Blair. Folk Songs, dances and Ventriloquism–programme of talking doll will be presented on the occasion.  All are invited to attend the programme.

Central Control Room of Elect dept.

A Central Control Room of Electricity department has been established and became functional from the premises of Headquarter Division Building Complex, Mohanpura w.e.f 07.06.2015 as per the directions of Hon’ble Lt. Governor, A&N Islands. The establishment of 24 x 7 Central Control Room will fulfill the long-felt demand of general public and media.

The general public can lodge their complaints and enquire about the power outages by dialing 235250 and 200515 at any hour of the day. Information, if not readily available will be collected and informed immediately to the caller.

The general public is advised to take advantage of this Central Control Room instead of making calls to the Power Houses and Sub-Stations regarding any enquiry about power outages. As in the event of any power outages, the Engineers and staff at Power Houses/Sub-Stations get busy in reviving the power supply and attending to telephone calls delays the process of revival of power supply.
