CONDOLENCE MESSAGE

A pale of gloom has set in the entire nation with the sad demise of Dr. A P J Abdul Kalam, former President of India. Sharing the grief with Nation, I express my heartfelt condolences to not only the family but also to every citizen of this country who loved him as their own.

The great soul departed, doing what he best liked, delivering a lecture at IIM Shillong and inspiring the students. Humanist at heart, his humility, simplicity infectious positive spirit who reached out to the powerful and the powerless with the same amplitude, changed the contours of the Office of President, giving him the most deserving title of ‘Peoples President’.

Saddened at the loss of one of the finest human beings, a great son of India, I express my condolences and pray to the almighty for the great soul to rest in peace.

Police cautions public against

increasing incidents of burglary

It has been observed that there is a trend in increase of burglary incidents in Port Blair and in the year 2015 (till 26th July) itself 51 incidents of burglary/theft have been reported in South Andaman District. The incidents are largely concentrated in Lamba Line, Mohanpura, Bathu Basti and Garacharama. Thus the people are advised to be cautious and whenever they go out, they should lock their houses and if not locking the house then do intimate neighbors for watch. It is further advised that all the gates of the house should be checked as in some incidents people had left back doors opened while going out, resulting in burglary. Police has recently caught gangs of Juveniles and other groups involved in various burglary incidents in the area. It is also advised that, if anybody seems to be suspicious including juveniles (in many cases the offenders were juveniles), they should report the same to the PCR or the nearest police station. Hence, general public is advised to follow precautions as below to prevent house theft (burglary).

(i) Doors (front & back) should be locked properly and door lock should  preferably be not visible from outside.

(ii) Citizens should invariably keep their gold article etc. in bank locker.

(iii) If leaving house for a long duration unattended inform your close ones or reliable neighbours to keep a watch.

(iv) Keep a watch on strangers roaming in their area without purpose.

(v) May open their own neighbourhood watch scheme in coordination with police.

(vi) Share information with police regarding such suspicious activities and theft information.

Remember it is better to prevent crime and together we can make the city a safe and secure place.
