Awareness programme on Drug menace and Traffic regulation

 

         A&N Police has been organizing a number of awareness programmes involving school children parents and teachers all over Andaman & Nicobar Islands on various issues.

 

         On 27.08.2015 awareness programme was held in the hall   of Kendriya Vidyalaya-I as a part of community policing initiative of Andaman & Nicobar Police.

 

 

         The main objective of the programme was to create awareness among the school children and teachers about measures to taken to curb the menace of drugs and to inculcate the understanding of traffic rules and regulations.

 

         Shri Atul Kumar Thakur, IPS, SP (CID/South Andaman District) addressed the gathering and explained in detail about the ill effects of drugs and also about followance of traffic regulations and the steps being taken by police for the safety and security of the children of these Islands and appealed to the teachers to educate the students so that they do not become victims of drug abuse & accidents. Pamphlets and photos were distributed among the students and teachers.

 

         On this occasion, Smti C. Raji, Principal KV-I and teachers also attended the meet.

 

Similar awareness programmes will also be conducted in other schools to educate and inform the stake holders of the issues relating to children.

 

The Principal appreciated the positive steps taken by the A&N Police to sensitize the school children and teachers.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Community Policing by Rangat Police at CHC Rangat

 

         CHC Rangat is situated at Rampur under the jurisdiction of PS Rangat and large number of  people including ladies, children particularly senior citizens and handicapped persons are visiting CHC Rangat for the treatment of their illness/disease. Due to increase in the number of patients, they have to wait for a long time in a queue for their turn of treatment and obtaining medicines particularly senior citizens and handicapped persons. To overcome the problems of senior citizens and handicapped persons and being a part of community policing Shri Ajay Kumar Rai, Dy.SP Rangat, Middle Andaman decided to depute police personnel to help the senior citizens and handicapped persons in getting their treatment and medicines without struggling for their turn. On this, Inspr. R.K.Sharma, SHO PS Rangat deputed two police personnel of PS Rangat from 24.07.2015 onwards at CHC Rangat during concerned hours for the assistance of the needful persons as a result of it good response from the general public is being received. Moreover, community policing activity is being conducted by Rangat police for the welfare of the general public in other areas as well. A separate register is also being maintained.

On the Second day of training of Presiding Officers/Polling Officers, 797 polling officials attended the training. Show cause notices are being issued to the polling personnel who have failed to attend the training even after receiving the notice and the process of registering of FIR and disciplinary action upon the concerned officials have been initiated. 

 It is again informed for the information of the voters that a SMS based facility has been developed to facilitate the voters to know their name, polling station details and voters serial number etc. by adopting the following procedure…

TYPE 10 Character EPIC NO. without space e.g. “PRI1222868” and sending SMS to 9434289934.

The claims and objections received for change of constituencies/modification in the electoral rolls have been scrutinized and genuine cases have been disposed of by generating supplementary list for the same.

         The teams constituted for effective enforcement of Model Code of Conduct are actively keeping vigil in their area and taking actions against the violators. If violators are found violating the Model Code of Conduct again, the stringent penal actions shall be taken against them.
