Greetings

 

        Id-ul-Fitr is celebrated all over the world with joy and gaiety. On this auspicious occasion, I extend my sincere greetings to the people of Andaman & Nicobar Islands.

 

        Id-ul-Fitr marks the end of a month-long fast observed during Ramzan. May this festival bring in an era of prosperity and happiness; and also help strengthen the bond of unity and brotherhood among the peace loving people of Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

National awards for empowerment

 of persons with disabilities

 

        The National Trust, Govt. of India, Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment has invited nominations for national awards for the empowerment of persons with disabilities for the year 2014 in the following categories:

 

1. Best Employee/Self employed with disabilities.

2. Best Employers and Placement officer or Agency.

3. Best Individual and Institution working for the cause of persons with disabilities.

4. Role Model.

5. Best applied research or innovation or product development aimed at improving the life of persons with disabilities.

6. Outstanding work in creation of barriers free environment for the persons with disabilities.

7. Best district in providing rehabilitation services.

8. Best state channelizing agency of national handicapped finance and development corporation.

9. Outstanding creative adult persons with disabilities

10. Best Creative Child with disabilities.

11. Best Braille Press.

12. Best Accessible Website.

13. Best state in promoting empowerment of persons with disabilities.

14. Best sports persons with disabilities.

 

        The prescribed format under each category and other details can be obtained from the Assistant Accounts Officer, Nodal Officer, Disability Affairs, Directorate of Social Welfare from 28^th to 30^th July.

Interview for Planning Assistants

 

            Based on the written examination conducted on 25/05/2014, the names of short listed candidates for Personal Interview for Recruitment of 13 posts of Planning Assistant in APWD, A & N Administration, Port Blair was published, Roll Number-wise earlier in The Daily Telegrams on 16^th June, 2014 and is available in the APWD & Administration websites www.apwd.and.nic.in & www.and.nic.in. The Personal Interview then scheduled on 25/06/2014 was postponed due to the Administrative Reasons. The Personal Interview is now proposed to be held on 20/08/2014 at 09.00 AM in the Chamber of Chief Engineer-cum-Secy(PWD), Nirman Bhawan, APWD Port Blair. The individual call letters for personal Interview will be dispatched in due course to their communication addresses. In case of non-receipt of call letter by the short listed candidates by 13^th August, 2014 they may approach the Town & Country Planning Unit for issue of Duplicate Call letter.
