LG directs ANIIDCO to work out proposal for providing support to farmers for disposal of vegetables at Port Blair

 

        Shri Vishal Jolly, President Bhartiya Janta Party, A & N Islands as well as other public representatives had drawn the attention of the Hon’ble Lt Governor about the problems faced by the farmers of Diglipur in the disposal of their produce. General Manager, ANIIDCO was deputed for a field study to Diglipur to explore the possibility of procurement and marketing of vegetables. Based on his assessment, it has been brought out that surplus vegetables are available during the period November – March. Accordingly, Hon’ble Lt. Governor has directed ANIIDCO to work out a proposal for providing support to the farmers, by way of procurement, transportation and final disposal of vegetables at Port Blair.  As a result, the farmers would be assisted in marketing their produce as well reap the benefits of remunerative prices.

 

        Hon’ble Lt. Governor has also directed Secretary (Shipping) to make necessary arrangements in the ships for storage and transportation of vegetables from Diglipur to Port Blair.
