ANDAMAN & NICOBAR ISLANDS-SCHEME FOR PROVIDING FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE FOR

                     REHABILITATION, PURCHASE OF AIDS/APPLIANCES AND MEDICAL TREATMENT TO THE

                                                               PHYSICALLY HANDICAPPED PERSONS

ELIGIBILITY 

i)        The permanent residents of the Union Territory  of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands or domicile of this Island who have resided in this territory for a period of not less than 10 years at the time of making the application.

ii)       Persons who are in need of financial help for rehabilitation or artificial aids, gadgets or tools or medical treatment to mainland hospital to reduce the effect of their handicap, recommended  by a qualified doctor of government hospital for such assistance.

iii)       Persons who are unemployed are eligible for such assistance.

iv)      Persons who are not receiving  any assistance from any government / semi-government / local bodies.  

APPLICATION 

            Application for the assistance under this scheme may be submitted in the prescribed form in Annexure I and II to the Director of Social Welfare. The requisite form are available free of cost in the Directorate of Social Welfare and its offices located all over the islands. 

VERIFICATION 

            The application for assistance under the scheme shall be accompanied with a sworn affidavit in the enclosed proforma on a two rupee non judicial stamp paper. 

QUANTUM OF ASSISTANCE 

            Financial assistance of Rs.3000/- for setting up of self  employment venture, upto Rs.3000/- for purchase of Aids/Appliances depending upon its cost and Rs.3000/- for treatment at mainland hospital per person.
