The Ministry of Women & Child Development has conveyed the approval for “Indira Gandhi Matritva Sahyog Yojana (IGMSY)” scheme to the District of South Andaman (ICDS Project, Urban & Ferrargunj) with aim at improving the health and nutrition status of pregnant and lactating woman by providing cash directly as maternity benefit to pregnant and lactating women as part compensation for wage loss during pregnancy and lactation period to individuals fulfilling specific conditions linked to maternal and child care behavior and responses. The scheme has been approved by Ministry to assist pregnant and lactating mothers by giving financial assistance.
Under this Scheme, a cash incentive of Rs. 6000 is to be provided to every Pregnant and Lactating woman 19 years and above, for their first two live births subjects to the women fulfilling specific conditions relating to maternal child health and nutrition. Cash incentive will be provided in three installments as per details given below, between the second trimester of pregnancy till the infant completes six months of age:-

Under this scheme there are 8000 beneficiaries (approximate) have been identified. An amount of 44.35 lakh received from Ministry and allotted the same to the CDPOs of ICDS Urban & Ferrargunj for utilization, out of which an amount of Rs. 44.35 lakh utilized as on 31.03.2015
