The objective of the scheme is to enable the hon'ble MP to recommend works of developmental nature with emphasis on the creation of durable community assets based on the locally felt needs. Right from inception of the Scheme, durable assets like- drinking water, primary education, public health, sanitation and roads, etc. are being created. The agencies which are using these funds for the developmental activities submits the reports of the developmental measures taken and the expenditures of the fund at regular basis. The district Administration then submits these expenditure details along with the developmental details to the central government in order to provide proper feedback to the ministry.
The MPLADS is a plan Scheme fully funded by the Government of India. The annual MPLADS fund entitlement per MP Constituency , is RS. 2 crore. All works to meet the locally felt community infrastructure and development needs with emphasis on the creation of durable assets are permissible in MPLADS except those prohibited under the guidelines.
